Wide Plank Hardwood Flooring

wide plank hardwood flooringIn my opinion, there is nothing more aesthetically pleasing than wide plank hardwood flooring. Just imagine it, a beautiful piece of wood stretching across the whole room in all of its splendour. Whilst this method of flooring tends to favour older properties, you can increasingly find hardwood flooring of this kind in more modern outfits. This really is the true definition of a wooden floor.

Whilst it may be tempting to get ‘traditional’ wide plank hardwood flooring when you are deciding on the look of your home, this is never recommended. This is because the wood will still have a lot of moisture inside of it, and be able to retain a lot more. This means that over time it can expand and contract and eventually it may push it away from the floor. I always suggest that you purchase only from a company which offers engineered hardwood flooring in wide plank, it may cost a little more, but it will save you a lot more money in the long run!

There are a plethora of different sizes that you are going to be able to choose from. Whilst the industry is pretty standardized nowadays, meaning you don’t get the choice that you had in the past, there are still a few things you can choose from. This includes the length of the board and of course the width of the board. Ideally you would want to take a little look at a few samples from your chosen provider before making your final decision, this way you can be sure that you are going to end up with the perfect look for your home.

You will also need to bear in mind the color of the floor that you are after. You can purchase your wide plank hardwood flooring in any wood you desire (to an extent at least!). This is going to be a pretty major decision as everything in your room from this point onwards will need to be designed based around the floor, which is undoubtedly going to be a major focus point. If you have chosen a decent provider of hardwood flooring then you will also have a number of sanding options to choose from, this is where the grain appears to be going a different way. All you need to do is choose the pattern which is most pleasing to your eye.

Finally, many people wish for their hardwood flooring planks to be compatible with under floor heating. The problem that you are going to face is that not all of them will be, so choose a high quality floor and don’t forget to ask questions!

Remember, when you are looking into the option of wide plank hardwood flooring, always choose the highest quality that you can afford. Low quality flooring tends to change considerably with the seasons and thus form many gaps in between the planks and warping could also be a problem. Always choose a wide plank which has been correctly engineered and only have it installed by experts. If you do that, then your room is going to look absolutely beautiful.
